Privacy-First Architecture

Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 26, 2026. Your privacy is fundamental to our design. Online GPS Speedometer operates entirely client-side.

100% Client-Side

Your GPS coordinates and velocity calculations stay on your device. Zero coordinates are sent to our servers.

No Accounts Required

Enjoy complete anonymity. We do not require registration, passwords, email addresses, or phone numbers.

No Ad Tracking

We do not sell data to third-party ad networks or run invasive cross-site tracking scripts.

1. Geolocation Telemetry & Processing

Online GPS Speedometer requests browser location permissions via the standard W3C Geolocation API (navigator.geolocation.watchPosition).

When you grant location permission, your web browser accesses your device's internal GPS receiver (or Wi-Fi/cellular triangulation hardware) to calculate latitude, longitude, altitude, heading, and velocity. All calculation and telemetry processing occurs strictly in local memory on your CPU.

What Happens to Your GPS Data?

  • In-Memory Processing: Speed, distance traveled, max speed, and average speed are computed inside your browser session.
  • Zero Server Transmission: Coordinates, speed records, and trip telemetry are never uploaded to any remote server or stored in any database.
  • Session Ephemerality: Closing your browser tab clears all active GPS tracking state.

2. Cookies & Local Storage

We do not use tracking cookies or persistent third-party advertising cookies.

We use browser localStorage exclusively to save your UI preferences locally across visits:

  • Selected Speed Unit: Preference for km/h, mph, knots, or m/s.
  • Speed Alarm Threshold: Custom audio/visual speed limit alert settings.
  • HUD Display Options: Windshield reflection mode preferences.

You can clear these settings at any time by clearing your browser's site storage or cache.

3. Map Tiles & Web Infrastructure

When you enable the live map display view, map imagery tiles are loaded directly from OpenStreetMap / CartoDB open-source tile servers via standard HTTPS requests.

Standard web hosting access logs (anonymized IP address, user-agent string, page request timestamps) are processed by modern CDN edge nodes solely to defend against DDoS attacks and ensure fast content delivery.

4. Privacy Enquiries & Contact

Because we do not store personal data or user accounts on our servers, there is no personal database to export or delete. However, if you have any questions or feedback regarding our privacy practices, please contact us:
